French Onion Soup

  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1 can chicken broth
  • 2 cans onion soup
  • 1 large onion, sliced thin
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 C cooking wine
  • 4 thick slices French bread, cut in half and toasted
  • 1 C grated cheese (mozzarella, swiss, or cheddar)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Saute onion in T of butter.  Combine all ingredients.  Bring to boil.  Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.  Add salt, pepper and garlic to taste.
Put a toast half in each of 8 individual baking dishes.  Add soup to each dish.  Cover with grated cheese.  Sprinkle with Parmesan.  Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until cheese melts.
